Gratitude to the Ancestors

Great Spirit,

I give thanks to you, Ancestors, for the vision, wisdom and guidance you have shared so generously throughout 2017. I am grateful for the passion you have fueled within us and the encouragement you have offered so that we could continuously rediscover hope and helpful resources in times when we felt discouraged and uncertain.

As we step in to this new Nature year, I ask that you stick close and continue to guide our paths so that we can progress on our soul’s journey with laughter, delight and gratitude.

A New Experience

Very recently, a client contacted me for help. Her retired service dog, a 15 year old Pomeranian I’ll call Squiggy had wandered off and had been missing for two days. While beloved pets who have crossed over to Spirit will sometimes come forward in the sessions I do, animal communication is not something I feel is in my wheelhouse. However when I had previously worked with this client in session, Squiggy popped in to join our discussion. At the time, I was quite amused by his bright, big energy and how he just butted right in to the session. Having connected with Squiggy at that time, I very much wanted to see if I could “find” him again. Continue reading “A New Experience”

Welcoming Winter Solstice

“It is our quiet time.
We do not speak, because the voices
are within us.
It is our quiet time.
We do not walk, because the earth is all within us.
It is our quiet time.
We do not dance, because the music has lifted us to a place where the spirit is.
It is our quiet time.
We rest with all of nature. We wake when the seven sisters wake.

We greet them in the sky over the opening of the kiva.”

From Fire to Nature

I will forever be grateful for what I learned from my dear teacher and friend, Sobonfu Somé. She spent her entire adult life traveling throughout the world sharing the powerful teachings of ritual and spiritual wisdom from her village in Burkina Faso, West Africa. One of the many things she taught me is about the 5 elements that the Dagara people of her homeland honor and seek to have in balance in all aspects of their lives. The last digit of a year is what indicates the element for that year. Your year of birth indicates what your primary element would be in this tradition: Continue reading “From Fire to Nature”

Ask for Help

In many of the readings I do, common themes come through again and again. One of the biggest directions that I hear from Spirit, is the encouragement that we be more willing to ask for help. Here in the physical world, those of us who tend to lead more independent lives and do not like to be a drain or burden to others are sometimes reluctant to ask for help. We are concerned that if someone is helping us, we may be taking away from another person or situation that may have more serious, urgent needs.

I hear repeatedly that in Spirit, this works very differently. Help is not a limited resource. In fact, the beings on the other side who are available to help and who want to help have the ability to be fully present and powerful to multiple people in multiple circumstances all at the same time. Healing the Whole

Today was the first snow of the season. We went out for a 6 mile trot, and it was beautiful. But it was also snowing … in my face. I found myself wanting to push, to hurry up and finish so I could escape back to the comfort and warmth of indoors. As we left town and headed into the wooded part of the route, I could heard the sweet and gentle voice of my guide whisper to me, “Patience, Continue reading “Healing the Whole”

Reflect and Release

December 3 was a beautiful, full “Super Moon”. My teacher and friend Sobonfu Somé taught me that the period from a full moon to a new moon (December 18th) is a very good time to release. We are also approaching Winter Solstice on December 21, 2017, our shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere with the least amount of daylight. Additionally, Mercury is currently in a retrograde cycle that began on December 3rd and will conclude on December 22nd. This is a very powerful time to be introspective, carving out time and space to dive inward, seeking a deeper understanding of ourselves and our soul’s journey. “Boy, Did I Miss Out!”

Since I began working as a medium, while I have had good success connecting to clients’ loved ones, I have not always enjoyed the same success with my own ancestor connection. There are some souls with whom I can easily connect. This is immensely helpful when sometimes when I am trying to make an important decision. However, there are other loved ones I have a lot of difficulty reaching.

For many months, I had been trying to connect with my maternal grandmother. Continue reading ““Boy, Did I Miss Out!””
