Welcoming the Solstice

Today, June 21, is the summer solstice, the day that contains the most light of the year. We welcome the energy of light and love and joy, to fill our hearts and fuel us with energy so that we may walk more gently on this Earth, and care for each other with a deeper compassion and understanding.

May your day be blessed and may your heart be full!

The Power of Prayer

Recently a friend of mind shared her Postcards from Spirit Oracle Deck with me, inviting me to pull a card. This is the beautiful card I pulled:

It was powerful to consider the power of prayer … how negatively powerful begging and pleading can be as well as the tremendous energy of offering up prayer as a sacred gift. I was deeply moved by this card and felt washed over with peace, hope and confidence when I read it.

Turtle Prayer

Great Turtle Spirit,
I invite you into my life.
I seek your lessons of tremendous patience.
I seek your lessons of stability.
I seek your lessons of the shore.
Lead me along that place
where water touches Earth,
the space between movement and stillness.
Remind me that I carry all I need
with me at all times.
Awaken my senses
so that I am prepared for
opportunities as they arrive.
Help me trust that all happens
when and how it should.
Shield me from harm, and share your primal wisdom.
Please,
help me remember that my home is with me
wherever I go.
Mother Turtle,
I call to you.

Blessing for Spring Equinox

Lord of the springtime, Father of flower, field and fruit, smile on us in these earnest days when the work is heavy and the toil wearisome; lift up our hearts, O God, to the things worthwhile — sunshine and night, the dripping rain, the song of the birds, books and music, the voices of our friends. Lift up our hearts to these this night and grant us Thy peace. Amen.

Watering the Tiny Seed

How shall the mighty river
reach the tiny seed?
See it rise silently
to the sun’s yearning;
sail from a winter’s cloud
flake after silent flake
piling up layer upon layer
until the thaw of spring
to meet the seedling’s need.

Make tender, Lord, my heart:
release through gentleness
Thine own tremendous power
hid in the snowflake’s art.
